Lots of options for the home made disc brakes,,I used rear rotors from a 85 300 zx and calipers from a 84 corolla. Blind Chicken Racing has an article on using 280z stuff,,

Their site has a link on our home page. I am sure there are many other options to consider and you could use your imiganation and find something completely different.

Why not a kit like this below and then some 4 lug to wide 5 adapters?

Adapters

I would think if you look hard enough on ebay, http://www.thesamba.com or other parts sites you could do a disc conversion for a little over $300 with adapters and everything would be new. Of course there are always cheaper ways I'm sure but its an option.

If you're running a kingpin, buy ya some balljoint spindle spuds, cut the old k/p ones off of the spindles, weld the balljoint spuds on as straight as possible, get some 4 lug vw rotors, and you can find nissan sentra calipers for it real cheap at a junkyard. Just fab up your mounts, and get stock vw four lug rims for the front. Cheap and easy front disc setup. It's exactly the setup I'm running now.
For the back, do just as Chris said, get four lug rotors for the rear, and you can also run Nissan Sentra cailpers on the back, make some brackets, bolt 'er up.

Another option for the front,,instead of welding spuds on,,,drop the spindle and get a little more ground clearance.
