Does anyone have any pointers for bleeding brakes? I'm trying to help a friend on his new buggy. He has cnc pedals,duel handle steering brakes,rear disk brakes,and a 2 or 4 # residual valve. WE got them about 90% but can't get them 100%. We tried to elevate the front end to get the master cylinder higher than the steering brakes,and even tried a vacuim pump. Just wondered if anyone new something else to try.

me and a friend of mine went through the same thing ,replaced master then sterring then all the lines & calibers nothing worked. then a friend told us to take the caliber loose and put a wrench or something beween the pads to stop them from closeing and turn the caliber to where the bleader is right above the brake line then blead it. we had instant solid peddle. mite be worth a try, wish we would have known before he spent $250.00

That sounds like a good idea. I'm going to try it today. I have never had good brakes. I always have to pump once.

You need to make sure the turning brake lines are up so no air gets trapped in there I think thats why we always have to pump brakes to get a good pedal.I started doing this and they always bleed out pretty quick.aaron

if i use a lift will that take care of all the lines and not need to unbolt anything

I posted a pretty in depth step-by-step on making a power bleeder out of a garden sprayer. It works like a charm. Never seen a set of brakes it didnt improve.

i've used the bug sprayer, greatest thing since sliced bread. the wrench in the break helped finish it off i never have to pump at all breaks are solid all the time. i had the same problems everyone told me to do that and bingo i have breaks

I use a mason jar and rubber hose. Get a piece of clear hose that will fit tight on the bleader about a foot long. Put one end on the loosened bleeder and the other end submerged in brake fluid in the jar. Pump brakes slowly and watch the fluid level close. Run a couple reservoirs of fluid through the system. ( retighten the bleeder screw) . It helps if the bleeder is located high on the caliper. This works for me but the turning brakes are stubborn. Take the buggy on a ride and repeat. The bug sprayer method may be better ,,,,,,,,,,good luck

this may sound nuts , but i couldnt get mine blead out either -- air in turning brakes to calipers . I bled them about 15 times --no use. Ifinally took the buggy out in the yard , parked it on the steep hill , chalked the wheels and bled them again --- by raising the calipers to the highest point they bled out perfect.

I made me a bug bleeder and it worked awesome. Can't emphasize enough how easy this thing makes bleeding brakes. And once you have it made it's there when you need it.

Bugsprayer brake bleeder was just another trick I learned from the boys in London, KY , the woodsbuggy tech capitol of the world!
They got it all down to a backwoods science. If Clayton , Lewis, or Tim aint figured something out, it aint worth figurin out!

Theres nothing better for getting a good pedal and cutters. Make sure to rotate calipers so bleeder is highest point and put something between the pads if you gotta lift the caliper off the rotor. You will love it!

Just did mine and my dads using the garden sprayer method. That works like a charm. I also bought my sprayer at Wal-Mart for $8.95. Best pedal my dad has ever had on his buggy, and best his steering brakes have ever worked too. And mine feel like they used too years ago before I added front brakes. My cutting brakes probably work better than they ever have. Thanks guys,

I made my bleeder out of an old CNC master cylinder cap (because that's the kind of pedals i have) i drilled a whole in the center of the cap for my brass fitting to go in to and then threaded it in to a 19.99 air compressor regulator and then i put a shut off valve with a quick disconnect air fitting to plug my air hose into and set the regulator at about ten to fifteen PSI voila a one man brake bleeder.

I have seen guys in my club(rebel riders) drill a hole in their cap and install a valve stem to keep a little air pressure in to have instant brakes. seems to me that would be keeping the brakes dragging on the rotor all the time though..

i have an exta mastercylinder cap with a air-shrader vaulve tit,use it on brake and clutch with very low preasure. also part stores sell spring-loaded check vaulve bleeders for about $15 a pair. do not use old rubber brake lines or you will never have a good pedal.richard
