Technically pad area will not increase braking force. A larger diameter piston in the caliper will or smaller piston in master cylinder will. Larger diameter rotors would increase braking forces but you probably don't have enough room inside the wheel.

Yea, I figured to go with a larger pad, you would have to have a larger piston or even two. These type 3 calipers are small (1-5/8 D pistons and 2-1/4 x 1-3/4 pads) and it looks like I have room for larger ones. What piston/pad size do the S10 calipers have and will they work with my rotors?

just mount you another set of type 3 calipers. that should double your braking force.

There's an idea that might work. I'd first like to try a larger pad/caliper first, to keep it simple.

i sugest 69 chevelle calliper they are 25 each at your autozone or advanced auto we just put them on my buggy also to fill the extra space their is when using your typical vw rotor just double stack your pads on one side of each one or you can make something like someone said they did i just double stacked

and the bracket you can buy probably at your local 4x4 shop if not a website this is the one i got from bluetorch fab

i dont know the weight but alot of that bracket gets cut away but i wanted the thicker bracket so i know my breaks are alot stronger seen the thiner ones brak but it really aint heavy i would guess buy the time the bracket is cut to fit it dont weigh anymore than the one for the vw calliper

Don't hit the brakes real hard Freak you will bend the trailing arms. The caliper brackets look stout.

Question I haven't heard yet: With all the different calipers people are talking about using, is it necessary to worry about the ratios between the caliper piston and the master cylinder piston? I imagine going to bigger piston brakes tends to make the braking pressure slower...

looks good hp nice work now get a beef up kit for those trailing arms

if you use the chevey calliers like mine you need a 1in mastercylender to have a good feeling petal with the smaller ones they still stop on a dime just has a really spungy feel
