Hello. I'm running 1989 Nissan sentra calipers with redrilled 280 z rotors and a bug master cylinder. No cutters yet. Everything is new now. I have about a 1/8 inch free play at the petal before it hits the master cylinder. I sanded down the pads because it was a right fit installing the calipers .. There's about a 1/16 inch gap between the pads and rotor after I installed them. Everything moves freely and in good working order. I'm pretty sure they are fully bleed. They are dragging pretty badly. they are both very slow to release. Anyone ever have this issue ? |

Crack a bleeder and see if it releases quicker. If so its your hoses |

Are the calipers floating on the slides ? I have seen people install calipers where they didn't float back and forth. The mounting bracket will bend or the rotor will eventually break when it is bent by the non floating caliper. Huey |

Thanks fellas for all the info .. It has new rotors , calipers ,hard lines , vw soft lines , pads , master cylinder . The calipers are installed square , true to the rotor and the pins slide good. I used a adapter from factory vw rubber lines directly to the stock sentra rubber line. The are old lines .. I will check them out. Something I noticed today is the brake petal will be extremely hard a few pushes then get kinda soft ( normal ) feeling a few then back hard .. It doesn't travel any different tho .. Here's the weird part my brake light switch is installed in the master cylinder .. They only light up when the petal it's soft feeling. I might have a bad new master cylinder .. It's a name brand from Roy Rodgers for a bug . What do y'all think ? Need any pictures of anything ? Let me know. Thanks greatly you guys !! P.s. they don't stop the car very well at all never really have ! Won't lock up a 31 inch co op if you stand on the petal ! |

lights only when it feels normal? sounds like somethings binding possibly the master. post a pic of your pedal/master assembly. |

I will get you a picture in the morning. It's just you're normal stock petal assembly and box. I braced it up some. Nothing seams to be binding up on it. I'm thinking its this new master cylinder. The brake lights do not stay lit when they drag . It's like they are slow to release .. You can tell they are engaged for about ten feet of driving after you hit them. I almost tore the hole buggy apart tonight tho. Brakes are still fully assembled. Thank you for the help and ideas man |

if the lights are not staying on i would think its not the master binding.I would lean toward the hoses. your pistons in the ca;ipers arent coming out to far are they? post a pic of the caliper showing the piston and how far out it goes when braking. to narrow it down to which brake is dragging take a good ride using the brake frequently. as soon as you get out feel the heat from the wheels. if one seems abnormaly hot thats your culprit. |

probably is the hoses not letting the pressure back out. replace them with sainless braided ones and be done with it! |

I would fix the brake lines first but still verify the calipers are true on the rotors . Easiest way I found is to take a blow gun or some air tools have a valve for adjusting air flow . The blow gun is what I used and you can thread a brake fitting in the end. That is threaded . Attach other end to caliper hose and then you can send air pressure to caliper and ck how they are working . On mine when you release the air the caliper the wheel turn completely free . |

The bent line still flowed really well .. It's all disassembled and I inspected everything real well the calipers are square and are releasing correctly. I did notice when I drained the system I had pressure on both bleeders. I got a good squirt when I opened them .. No petal pressure. I'm going to replace the rubber lines and the Ben metal one when I reassemble it .. The master cylinder is sticking now it's empty .. Think I'm replaceing it too .. Should I go back with a bug one ore a bus one ? Like I said these brakes never really worked like y'all described ... I greatly appreciate all the information and help so far |

if you can aford it go on and get you all new hydrolic pedal setup and if you can really afford it put a willwood breat master cylender on it |

I wish a hydraulic petal set up was in my budget !! Ballin on a budget here .. I'm going to replace the rubber lines with ss lines if I can find em reasonably priced.
