So ive been running the junk ghia calipers forever now, I snapped all the bleeders off yesterday lol OOOPss!! Needless to say im looking for new calipers, are the wilwoods worth it? or should I go with sentra or something else? The cheaper route would be best....for my wallet...BUT. Brakes are the most important thing on the buggy after the beer cooler . and i want them right. Any advice, or sense of direction would be helpful thanks guys O Also...Im running the Dual beadlocks in the rear, so caliper needs to be low profile..

I've got wilwoods, and they are awesome. Strong, easy to modulate, low profile, just a great deal. Pricey, but one of the things thats worth the money

which model do u run? THink u could give me a measurement of how high they are off the rotor? i live close to summit racing, they have'm for $124 each on certain models

They sit 1.5" off the top of the rotor. I don't know what model, sorry. I know I'm not much help lol.

1.5" off the outside of the rotor. Ill havta do some measuring tomorrow, Thats a big help itself. Thanks. I have to say the dual beadlocks are helpful, and give me a great sense of security...BUT its kinda screwing me on a lot of brake setups lol Appreciate the help .

wait till u have to buy brake pads for those wilwoods !!! i seen guys have problems with some of the pistons sticking in wilwoods they dont have a dust boot like a street caliper does

Just remeber, brakes are probably one of the biggest things on the buggy not to skimp on. Safety gear and brakes are way more important to a fun and enjoyable ride than horsepower and traction. Hard to drive a buggy from a wheel chair. Go with the best thing your wallet can handle.

chevy brakes work great and are a lil easier on the back pocket. think i got about a 200 bucks in the calipers (70 elcamino), 2 sets of pads and the brackets from the race shop..i did go with a bigger brake resevoir and put a 2psi residual valve because it takes alot of fluid to move them, but for the buck you cant beat em. its like putting power brakes on your buggy,.. i can drag a 38" down the trail with ease

I had this problem with some Wilwood Dynalights on one of my cars, I'm thinking of fitting Land Rover Discovery calipers on my buggy next, they're AP four pots but made from steel instead of alloy.. they're £60 each here in the UK, thats about $100..

I as well love my wilwoods!!!! I bought an extra set of pads 2 years ago thinking that I would need them?? The way there wearing I won't need them for another 2 years!!! I have all the info at home if you need the model. Also running a solid disk. I can lock up my tires going down the road with ease

I too love my wilwoods and can lock up my 15.50s on pavement with ease. Three best things i've done to my car are ecotec,rack-n-pinion steering and wilwood calipers!

I like my wilwoods,I like my wilwoods copies.but I never had any problems with the ghia calipers either.I can lock up my tires on blacktop with all 3. It's got a lot to do with your m/c and bore.but then again I got a size 15 foot so pretty much it stops or something blows out when I cram down on the pedal.before I had disc I rebuilt and bought more wheel cylinders than any one man should ever have to,lol.Chad

I have 89 Nissan Pulsar brakes on mine and they work fine. I'm not sure if sentras are the same.

I appreciate all the info, But I need measurements off the rotor, so i know wether or not any of these setups will even work with my rims. lol

Had no trouble with the front wilwoods, just wish I'd got ones with dust boots like we have on the rear 4-pots!

Ok here's what I got for you.I've got a set of 15x14x5 weld beadlocks and wilwood calipers.I've got like 15/16 of space between the bead of rim and caliper,don't seem like you could run a inside beadlock with it.I've got a set of 15x12x2 keizer beadlocks with stock vw calipers ( varga I think ) and have 1"-3/16 between bead and caliper and possible might be able to run depends on your beads.the stock caliper sets out farther over the hat of the disc than the wilwood.so if you've been running beads with stock calipers and it's just a matter of offset then you could run the wilwoods but the wilwood is just a little taller at least on mine.don't know if this helps or not. Well, my buddy is driving south in the morning to pick up his new buggy. It has sentra calipers...So Ill measure those tomorrow i guess. The ghia calipers have about 1/4" gap...I can take another 1/8 or so outta the beadlock, maybe even another 1/4 if i had to lol. Thanks chad

Well I hope that beeline is all it says it is it will be a good one,don't rush check it out really really good unless you personally know the guy,but run it through a checklist.write down everything you would want to know or ask and write it down,cause once you get there and start bullshitten and he hears that stroker fire up you have a chance to go blank,lol.jack up every wheel and check every bearing cause for that money you should not have to work on it when you get home IMO.if you come down next weekend we can bolt your wheel up to mine see if wilwoods will fit if you want to.
