I'm getting ready to run my brake and clutch lines on my buggy.

I have 3/4 bore master cylinders. What size brake line do I need? Also I am going to need the 90°brass fittings to screw in to my master cylinders. Are those going to be 1/8 fittings?

Also what about the clutch line. I am thinking of running a braided line all the way back for the clutch. Will a 3AN line be the right size for my clutch?

Thanks for the help.

Depending on your master cylinder, mine is 10 mm to 3/16 on the 90.what calipers are you running..really wouldn't matter that much I wouldnt think but there is a few hydraulic guys on here that may chime in.Chad

Look into nickel plated brake line . Rust proof and You can make amazingly clean bend very easy cause how soft it is .

Like Chad said, 3/16 (or 8mm) is pretty standard for brake line
I like the biggest bore I can get on the brake m/c and the smallest for the clutch m/c. Makes the clutch feel easier to push. A 3/4 bore clutch m/c on a stage 3 or bigger press.plate will give you a big ol' left calf muscle
Yeah the fittings that screw DIRECTLY into most calipers are usually brass 1/8" NPT on the male end and whatever type of line you plan to run on the female end. I like to get standard 3/16 SAE double flare on the female end of the fitting because the european bubble flare is hard to reproduce if you want to cut the brake lines to the length you need and re-flare them. A $50 flaring tool will do great double flares on those nickel plated steel lines GIG mentioned. Just dont try to use one on stainless lines. Either the tool or your hand will break before you flare that stainless.

I always use Cupronickel for brake/clutch hard lines, no corrosion problems, easy to form and doesn't suffer from stress cracks either.

Larry I run a 7/8 on my clutch because I got tired of the long throw, lol. But I do tend to bounce when I walk.

Personally on my power steering lines I ran hard brake lines, cut off the flares and used brass compession fittings with no problems. Just never been a fan of flare fittings. Either should work fine and the brass 1/8" 90's have worked fine for me if thats what you can find local.

Which size AN should I use for the brake lines? #3 or #4?
