My new buggy is going to have 4 wheel disk brakes with dual master cylinder and balance bar. I was wondering if I should run a staging brake on the front, so If i'm backing down a hill I can just work the front brakes. Is anyone doing this and if so how well does it work?

Most everyone I know runs a seperate front brake set up with a hand leaver. Going down hill works as much as you want it to. Only way to do front brakes.

And front brakes do little to none when backin off a hill. All the weight is off your front wheels, so they just slide. Front brakes are for downhill, and they make it 400 times better when coming down steep stuff.

i run disks on the back - drums on the front. Got the drums adjusted so that you have to push a little harder on the pedal to make them grab. Never had any trouble

Nice thing about dual cutters, you can use them for rear only backing down a hill. Then you still have full brakes when you hit the pedal.
