Cobra 98 By Tony in Irvine Ky, knock down kit, welded and braced
by Me. Ran standard set up 1 season then rebuilt the top of
the chassis to flat style using "Sprint car style"
bracing. The tree bars make great mounting point for entrance
and egress. Right now paint is spray bomb rusto stuff just to
turn the water till powder coat.
Front suspension:
Tweeds stuff 4 x
1 3/4 arms 6" over beam and their standard height spindles
econo rack and pinion strearing step up for mimimun bump steer
and clearenced for turn radius and adjusted for minimun tire
wear with stock drum brakes.
Rear suspension:
Swing axle torsion
with irs pockets added, Berrien buggy 3x3 arms with 930 CV's
and Empi 19 3/4 axles. FOA coil over shocks: 2.5 x 12 with resivours.
Also limit straps set to eliminate CV bind.
Drive Train:
Side shift washerboxer
trans with super diff and stock gearing freshly rebuilt. I built
the shift linkage to retain the stock shifter in the stock location.
This resulted in a revered shift pattern.
Engine:
1. C.W 78.4 mm Crankshaft
forged CBPerformance 8 dowel.
2. New Case AS41 Open to 90.5 mm taped for full flow.
3. New Unitech I-beam connecting rods New bushing
4. TM20 440 lift 275 dur Camshaft with Norris racing Lifters.
5. Aluminum stock cam gear
6. German forged reground flywheel 8 dowel.
7. Gene Berg Chromoly racing Gland nut (torque to 550lbs)
8. 8mm chromoly head studs
9. 90.5 mm Mahale pistons/cylinders with Grant rings.
10. NEW 043 heads with 40 x 35.5 port mini d.port stainless
steel valves
12. Scat rockershaft with VW W/B 1.1to1 rockerarms
13. Stainless steel windage push rod tubes.
14. Bolt on aluminum valve covers or stock German (vented if
needed)
15. Perfect fit Chrome sheet metal or black
16. 26mm H.D oil pump modified for full flow with oil filter
base and oil filter
17. New Dual 44mm Weber kit.
18. New Alternator.
19. Bosch 009 distburor.
20. Kennedy Stage 1 Pressure plate with Dankin disk.
21. Dynamically Balancing Crank,Rods,Pistons,Flywheel,Pressure
plate,Front pulley.
22. Full dyno day with break in and tuning and dyno sheet 150-155HP-155-160TQ
Brakes/Cutch:
Wilwood pedal assemdlies,
with hydralic clutch, wilwood 4 piston rear disck, stock front
brakes, turning brake and park lock. braided S/S teflon flex
hoses for all flex line with the remainder J.I.C. -4 steel line
and fitting for the remainder. I can shut the thing down doing
50mph on gravel and the front brakes dont lock up!
Wiring:
all crimped soildered
shrink tubed ect... All circuits protected by fuses or breakers
sealed k-4 switches weather pack disconectes for quick engine
pull, turn signals and high low beam for street legal lights
are mostly tail/running lights are mostly leds.
