Iron Duke??

Postby hayshaker247 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 8:00 pm

anyone out there ever ran an iron duke? i have a pontiac crossflow head and all the rest of the parts"h-beams, pistons rod etc.." was going to build it for our race car but dont want to change classes... the motor should make around 375- 400 hp but it wont make more than 200 until its over 4000 rpm.. the cam i have has around .800 lift and lots of duration..

if i do it i'll propane it and maybe turbo one day.. just wondering how light it will make my front end and if anyone thinks it will be worth the while... the motor is worth well over 8 grand and i have everything to build it. its either put it together for free or make my 1600 a 2176 and see how it goes..

somewhat... the iron duke is a 2.5 liter.. either a 151 or 153ci.. i know they come in boats.. the head on my pops jeep is off a boat. they flow way better factory than a land motor so better start for hours of p&p..

this is a few clips of the jeep at gravelrama.. he built it in 96 and has put rods and rings in it once in 2000 so its pretty reliable for a factory crank with aluminum rods.. i will run steel h beams.. the only major problem is that the big block triple valve springs have pushed through the head in the intake runner do to so much port work on a non crossflow head!! he has had to weld under the spring plate twice and is leaking again now.

this is my trail rider which also has an iron duke, trail ride trim minus the muffler, tools, spare parts, winch, and changed from boggers to paddles :D
